Unnamed Tournament #8

Miracles can happen

The last two tournaments were taken by the Bogle menace, thus the format began its search for a deck that could overtake the Scottish menace.

The number of players was a solid 8 - perfect for a tournament with no byes. The three-round Swiss came and went with little drama, apart from the tournament now happening on a Sunday, which was approved by the majority of the community.

Rules:
1. Same as traditional format rules as provided in github page.

Date: 06-14
Time: UTC 18:00
Format: Swiss
Deck submission deadline: 30 minutes before the start. But not really, yet.

Tournament was held on Challonge. Click here to see the final standings of Unnamed #8.

The result

The tournament was taken by UW Miracles - a control powerhouse, which manipulates its topdecks and Miracle mechanic by using scrying and controls the game with staples like Cryptic Command and Snapcaster Mage. The rest of the field was very aggro focused, just as predicted by the swing of the control-aggro pendulum that seems to be present in every Traditional tournament.

We hope to make further improvements while doing tournaments. And now for the result:

Player Deck Name Archetype MW ML Points MW% OMW% GW GL GW% OGW%

The clear-cut winner of the tournament was cmpxchg me mommy's UW Miracles, with a 3-0 showing.

One of the mainstays in the format, Dragas's janky Abzan Golos grabbed the brass ring and got itself an impressive silver medal, with the help of our old friend Siege Rhino.

Among the seemingly ever-present decks like Pinecone's Gruul Utopia or Kibernetik's Hardened Scales, some innovative decks showed up, like Goblin Storm, Mono Black Tron and even Zombies!

All in all, a more aggressive tournament was won by a powerful control deck. Although Bogles were absent, an inevitable showdown between the ur-deck of Traditional and it's new challenger is surely about to happen.
